While I’m a big fan of maple syrup, I like to make my own syrup, too.And using strawberry fruit for this syrup, fits the bill perfectly!
This one is super tasty! The strawberry-vanilla flavor is delicious over pancakes, waffles, and French toast! And try a teaspoon or two in a plain yogurt. Adding your own sweetener to plain yogurt makes for a tasty treat with less sugar than a pre-sweetened yogurt!
Of course both my kids love this one!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup frozen or fresh strawberries, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Preparation:
Makes approximately 1 1/4 cups
Total Prep and Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Add all of the ingredients to a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Stir a few times to be sure the sugar has dissolved, reduce the heat to low, and simmer for about 5 minutes.
An additional note:
This is fun to serve on Valentine’s Day over my Strawberry Valentine’s Day Pancakes!
