When it comes to health and wellness, my very Dominican mama has it covered. That’s because she is a nurturing woman that insists on a germ-free home.
Her need for spick and span is especially high during cold and flu season. Like St. Nick checking his ‘naughty or nice’ list, Mami scrutinizes the toilet every winter night. She wipes away the bacteria she swears lives on the kitchen sink (and curses at said bacteria in Spanish for dramatic effect). Mami even goes as far as washing my clothes. She believes that no one can clean as well as a mama bear!
I have to admit that she may be right. This cub has never done as good of a job as her madre when getting rid of germs. That is, until now.
I recently had family members over and needed help banishing the germs in mi casa before and after their visit. With four easy-to use products in my arsenal, germs and bacteria were banished in no time.
First, I began with Clorox® Clean-up® Cleaner + Bleach – the perfect product to clean up messes. It’s especially good for removing stains from lots of different surfaces. I used it on the kitchen table (where earlier, my cousin was sitting, and wouldn’t stop sneezing). Bonus: there were no more habichuela stains!
Next: Doorknob germs. Here, I used Clorox® Disinfecting Wipes. These wipes are so easy to use. With one wipe I killed 99.9% of germs that can survive on surfaces for 48 hours. Phew!
On to the bathroom: Like my mother, I believe in cleaning the toilet immediately after a slew of guests depart. (No offense to my guests!) I turned to Clorox® Toilet Bowl Cleaner with Bleach, as it kills almost 100 percent of germs. The nozzle made it easy to squirt the bleach-infused formula exactly where it needed to go.
Almost done…there was just one more thing to take care of: linens. I put in a load of whites and used Clorox® Bleach—my whites were bright, ready for the next party.
Now I feel as ready for cold and flu season as Mami. The question is: will I have my family over again for the holidays? Let’s see who’s been naughty or nice!
