Materials:
- small plastic animals (hollow ones are preferable, but not necessary)
- stirring sticks
- small drill
- small drill bit
- primer
- spray paint (any color)
- industrial glue
- pen
Instructions:
Step 1: Pick the spot on the underside of the animal where you want to hole for the stirrer to be. Mark it with your pen.
Step 2: Drill gently where you put your mark. Stop every few seconds to make sure you aren’t making the hole too wide or too deep, and you don’t want to go through the animal to come out the other side. You just want to drill about a quarter of an inch into the plastic. Insert a stirrer into the animal to test it an make sure the hole is big enough.
Step 3: Put your animals in a cardboard box to get them ready to be sprayed. Cover the plastic animal in a coat of primer and let it dry completely. If you are spraying your animals outside and it’s cold out, bring the plastic animals inside after you are done spraying them to dry indoors. The cold weather can do strange things to primer and spray paint!
Step 4: Choose your color, and spray your animal with the hue of your choice. My son requested that the beaver be neon pink and the others white. Again, if you are spraying the animals outside, bring them in to dry.
Step 5: Using the industrial glue, glue the stirring sticks into each animal.
Step 6: Let the glue dry completely before using and you are ready for some delicious hot cocoa!
