When singer and new mom Kelly Clarkson showed off her fuller figure during an appearance on “Graham Norton Live,” British TV personality Katie Hopkins got nasty on Twitter. “What happened to Kelly Clarkson?” she sniped. “Did she eat all of her backup singers? Happily I have wide screen.”
Clarkson’s fans immediately jumped to her defense, while Hopkins fired back with more mean tweets. Clarkson apparently didn’t even know this nasty war of words had taken place until she was asked about it during an interview with Heat magazine. When the magazine’s reporter filled her in — get this — Clarkson laughed, according to People.
“That’s because she doesn’t know me,” she told the reporter. “I’m awesome! It doesn’t bother me. It’s a free world. Say what you will.”
Clarkson went on to add that she’s even more happy and confident now that she has a family, husband Brandon Blackstock and 8-month-old daughter River Rose.
“I’ve just never cared what people think,” she told the magazine. “It’s more if I’m happy and I’m confident and feeling good. That’s always been my thing. And more so now, since having a family – I don’t seek out any other acceptance.
