Since most schools across the country are closed, most parents are left wondering how they are going to homeschool and entertain their kids. But thankfully, the list of educational resources offering free educational resources during the pandemic keeps on growing. And now you can add Sesame Street to the list.
As part of the “Caring For Each Other” initiative by Sesame Workshop, families can enjoy over 110 free Sesame Street educational and entertaining eBooks on all major eBook platforms like, Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, Barnes & Noble Nook, Google Play and Kobo. This also includes daily worksheets on creating routines during “The For Now Normal,” health and self-care minded coloring pages, and printables on current topics like “How to wash your hands. The books available encompass all ages and reading levels and feature a variety of characters from Cookie Monster to Abby Cadabby.
“Around the world, young children’s lives are being turned upside down, and parents and caregivers are looking for ways to give their children — and themselves — a sense of stability in this new normal,” Dr. Rosemarie Truglio, senior vice president for curriculum and content, sesame workshop, said in a statement. “But there are things parents and caregivers can do to face each day with optimism. Sesame Street is here to provide the caring adults in children’s lives with the resources they need to help children, and foster their healthy development at home.”
Sesame Street says the activities on the site “are not prescriptions you have to follow, but ideas you can use to spark other playful learning moments,” and their goals is to add more content to the portal on a regular basis.
This is welcome news to parents struggling to keep their kids entertained and free up the time and bandwidth to get work done themselves. Look, most of us are letting the kids have more screen time than normal, so why not feel good about what the kids are watching. Thanks, Sesame Street!
