NFL’s Super Wild-Card Weekend Featured a Clutch Play From a Super Momma

Sports stories and highlights abound from NFL’s Super Wild-Card Weekend, but the one we adore involves NFL mom Donna Kelce. Both of Kelce’s sons play for different teams and their games this past weekend were a thousand miles apart — yet, she was there to support both.

NFL’s Super Wild-Card Weekend Super-flyer Momma!

Jason Kelce plays for the Philadelphia Eagles and Travis Kelce for the Kansas City Chiefs, according to Sports Illustrated. Jason’s playoff game was against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, in Tampa, and began at 12:00 pm EST. Travis’ was in Kansas City, against the Pittsburgh Steelers, at 7:15 pm Central.

Momma Kelce hauled butt to make it to both games, to support both of her sons.

After the Kansas City game, where Travis threw his first touchdown and led the team in receiving yards, Kelce surprised her son during their postgame Zoom conference call. Their full exchange can be viewed in the tweet below:

“I used to tell my mom when I was like five years old, that I was going to eventually throw a touchdown in the National Football League,” Travis Kelce said. “I finally got it done. It only took me nine years.”

Despite it taking this long, and Travis having minimal success at the NFL level, his mom is always there to support him. This season, just one of his three pass attempts was completed, with one intercepted.

Momma Kelce responded to her son saying, “That’s awesome,” and went on to give positive encouragement about why they love sports. “It’s so fun, and that’s what makes sports so great, because you can be depressed in the morning and elated in the evening.”

“There you go,” Travis responded. “Glad I could put a smile on your face. Love you, mom.”
