12 Smart Tips for Planning the Ultimate Disney Princess Vacation

Tip #9: Sometimes Princesses need to take a break, or a nap. Definitely don’t wait for a royal meltdown before leaving the parks. It’s so important to take a few hours off, either to nap, lounge at the pool, or have a relaxing meal at your hotel in the middle of the day so you can enjoy dinner, one of the firework shows and rides at night. “Since we started so early each day, the girls were losing steam by by 2 PM and we headed to the hotel for a few hours. One day we took them to the pool, another we watched a movie in the room. We never had any tantrums and we were able to stay with them in the parks until they closed at midnight,” Lindsay adds.

Tip #10: Bring a stroller. Even if you don’t think you’ll need one or if you think your child has outgrown it, it’s always good to have at least one stroller (or even one for each kid) because there’s a lot of walking and it can get really hot in the summer months. We found that we didn’t need them until the end of the day and just parked them in a stroller parking area rather than dragging them around with us, but they came in so handy as we watched the nighttime parades. You can rent single or double strollers at the parks but you can’t leave with them, and that’s when you really want to have one with you so you’re not carrying a sleeping child back to the room. They’re also great for storing water bottles, a change of clothes, and anything else you think you may need during the day.

Tip #11: Get frame-worthy photos.  You may think you can capture all the shots you need on your phone or camera, but you’ll get professional ones through the Memory Maker program.  Save some money by purchasing it in advance of your trip, and each day you can download every photo taken by the professionals at the parks.  Trust me, they got way better shots than we did. Don’t be surprised if a few of your shots have Pascal from Tangled, Tinker Bell, or a decorative border along the edge.

Tip #12: Order water and snacks in advance.  Save money and time by placing an order with Garden Grocer and have them deliver food, drinks and toiletries to your hotel the day you arrive. If you’ll have a kitchen in your room you can order eggs, frozen waffles, cereal and milk so you can eat breakfast before you head out for the day. We stuck with cases of water, fruit, and snacks. They chilled in the fridge each night, and we stored them in the stroller so we could grab them on the go in the parks. They also sell toiletries so we didn’t have to pack sunscreen and Band Aids. For parents traveling with very little ones you can have diapers, baby food and other essentials delivered, too.
