As much as we love spending every free moment with our little guy, T, Rob, and I make extra effort toward the romance department of our life, too. Because of my lovely and amazing mom’s ability to happily care for T at any time, Rob and I are lucky to enjoy monthly date nights and the “I feel like I won the lottery” experience of baby-free romantic getaways.
We’ve only had one baby-free romantic weekend in the past year—a surprise birthday getaway to Palm Springs—and it was wonderful, rejuvenating, and something I encourage all parents to do if you have the childcare capabilities. Knowing T was having a ball with Grandma meant that—for the first time in ages—Rob and I could indulge in lounging by the pool with a refreshing cocktail (!!!), dropping by the resort spa for a massage and (much needed) mani-pedi, and late, long dinners and adult conversation about anything and everything. By the end of this marvelous weekend, T had developed a sudden fever and we had to head home on the first flight out. That part wasn’t fun and I don’t wish that on anyone, but by that point Rob and I had that sparkle back in our eyes and were ready to come home to our little man.
