Watermelon Vodka

How To Infuse Vodka With Fruit

When berries are abundant I like to fill jars of vodka with them to make strawberry vodka. Ditto with watermelon. The beauty of these naturally flavored vodkas is that they can easily be used to make delicious summer drinks or infuse summer treats. Here is a simple method for infusing vodka with fruit flavors!

Homemade Fruit Vodka

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups fruit, chopped
  • Good quality vodka
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar per mason jar

Preparation:

Pack the fruit into each mason jar until the jar is filled to the rim. Pour in one tablespoon of sugar and fill the jar to the top with vodka. Screw the lid onto the jar tightly and gently shake the jar to agitate the fruit and the sugar. Store the jars in a cool, dry place, or the refrigerator, and agitate them every day for about three to four days. Strain the liquid through a few layers of cheesecloth to remove the fruit and any seeds. Serve.
