One day later, Danielle made the hearbreaking announcement that Richie had passed away. Posting a picture of herself with what seems to be the baby’s handprint on her chest on Instagram, Danielle wrote: “Yesterday I was blessed with the birth of my Richie Bear. Unfortunately, last night he took his place with the Lord and we said goodbye. I so appreciate the prayers and support from everyone. He touched my heart and was perfect in so many ways.”

In June, Danielle shared her unborn son’s omphalocele diagnosis with US Weekly. Although doctors advised her against continuing with the pregnancy, Danielle and her husband were committed to giving their unborn child a chance at life, saying: “I was told there’s almost a 53 percent chance of mortality. As a mother, I will do whatever it takes for my child. No matter how long he has in this world, I could not imagine taking his chance away.”

Danielle’s older sister, Christina, paid tribute to her nephew on Instagram by reposting the photo of the baby’s foot, with the message: “The last 24 hours have been an emotional roller coaster but i’d like to thank everyone for being so supportive throughout my sister Danielle & Richards pregnancy. The both of them have shown the true measure of courage and faith for the last 9 months and I can’t praise them more. Our family was blessed to have met our little Angel Baby Richie. We were fighting for him and with him the whole way and are now coping with the direction in which fate took.”
