Spring Gratitude Challenge

Are you excited to see the back of winter like me?

At this time of the year, I find that my gratitude levels are sky high. As the winter days lose their chill and the scent of spring drifts through the air, it feels like the perfect time for a fresh start that appreciates the new. Taking stock and feeling grateful at this time of year feels as important as spring cleaning.

How do you foster gratitude in your littles? I’ve created a simple Spring Gratitude Challenge that aims to provide families with conversational opportunities about gratitude and its importance to a happy life. Some of the prompts have specific suggestions on how to express gratitude, like create an artwork or take some photos. However, there are no rules to this challenge. Complete it as best suits your family.

You might like to discuss the prompts around the dinner table. In the car on the way to swimming lessons. As a part of the bedtime routine. You might like to create a Family Gratitude Journal and record everybody’s responses within the journal.

Or you could encourage children to draw their responses and express their ideas through their art.

Challenge your family to complete all of these ideas by the end of spring.

  • Write a thank-you note to somebody. (Here are some sweet free printable cards.)
  • Take some photos of people you are grateful for.
  • Create an artwork showing 3 things you are grateful for.
  • List three great things that happened today.
  • Go for a walk and appreciate your surroundings.
  • What is different today than a year ago that you are grateful for?
  • Draw a picture of a place you are grateful for.
  • What is something you do each day that makes you happy?
  • What skills do you have that you are thankful for?
  • Make and decorate a list of things that never fail to make you happy.
  • Wander through your home and take photos of things that you are grateful for.
  • Write a letter to somebody telling them what you appreciate about them.
  • Make a playlist of songs that make you happy.
  • Lie in the grass and appreciate the sky.
  • Draw a memory that you are grateful for.
  • Create a Jenga Game of Gratitude.

Print out the prompts and stick them on the fridge. Just click on the image below to download the Spring Gratitude Challenge.
