Kids love slime, and moms love things that keep kids busy. With your kids home for the summer, you may find yourself looking for ways to keep them occupied and slime (especially when you make a DIY slime with them) can be lots of fun. But like many activities that are big on fun, it can also create a huge mess. Sure, you can try to contain the slime and only allow it in the kitchen or insist that your kids put it away as soon as they are done playing with it, but it’s just a matter of time before it gets mashed into your carpet, Because kids. The good news is that this is not a death sentence for your carpet.
Here is how to get slime out of carpet, with things you likely already have in your home:
Supplies:
- White Vinegar
- Water
- Spray bottle
- Paper towels
Instructions:
- Remove as much of the slime as you can with your hands first (whether it is wet or dry). Also spot test vinegar on your carpet before you do the remaining steps.
- Mix 2 parts white vinegar and one part warm water in a spray bottle and shake well.
- Generously spray the vinegar mixture on the remainder of the slime stain. Let it soak in. You may even see the slime start to dissolve on contact.
- After the mixture has soaked in, blot with a dry paper towel. Repeat the spray/blot pattern until stain is gone.
You can also use this method to remove stain from clothing and linens! Good luck with the slime (and summer break!)
