3 Easy Hacks That Really Work To Get Crayon Off The Wall

3 Easy Ways to Erase Crayons Off Your Walls

I never imagined I’d need to know how to get crayon off the wall, then I became a mom. Since then, I’ve dealt with crayon everywhere — including my freshly painted walls! For most of us, repainting is just too expensive. So I’ve done some research (and a lot of trial and error) and I’ve discovered some cheap and effective ways to remove crayon from walls, using common household items. Ready to get rid of those scribble marks? Here’s how to get crayon off the wall, in three easy tricks that really work.

How To Get Crayon Off The Wall

1. Rub crayon off the wall with a little mayonnaise.

Mayonnaise? What!? You just need to apply a little elbow grease. Simply smear mayo on your child’s, uh, artwork and let it sit there for about 10 minutes. Then wipe it off with a dry paper towel using a bit of force. You may have to repeat the process a second or third time to get it all off, but it will come off. Then just wash the wall with soap and water. Boom!

2. Scrub crayon off the wall with toothpaste and a toothbrush.

No mayo? No problem. Toothpaste (not gel) is an effective way to get crayon marks off a wall, too. Smear the toothpaste onto the wall with your fingertip. Then take an old toothbrush and in a circular motion scrub the wall. Wipe it off with a dry paper towel. Repeat, if necessary. Once all of the crayon is removed from the wall, wash the wall with soap and water. And here’s something else: This method removes permanent marker, too! #winning

3. Put Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to work.

This is the best of the crayon-removing techniques I’ve tried, because the crayon comes off so easily. Simply dampen the magic eraser with water (it doesn’t need to be soaking wet) and wipe the crayon off the wall. They call this stuff magic for a reason!
