Last year when my husband and I hit a bump — okay, fine, it was more like a sink hole — in our marriage the idea of a divorce party (complete with a divorce cake) as a way to hit the refresh button on life kind of appealed to me. Turning the tragic ending of a marriage and split up of a family into a celebration of new beginnings sounded like a marvelous idea to me. And here’s the thing: I’m not the only one.
Women everywhere are embracing post-divorce celebrations as new beginnings, and they’re choosing some pretty outrageous divorce cakes to serve at the party. What is a divorce cake, exactly? Well, it’s a hilarious confection that you can make yourself or custom order from a bakery. Think of the divorce cake as a sweet ending to a relationship that turned bitter.
