Did Tina Turner Have Any Kids?

On Sunday, Feb. 4, Tina Turner’s legacy was celebrated at the 2024 Grammy Awards. Oprah Winfrey kicked off the tribute with some heartfelt words about her dear friend, followed by a stunning “Proud Mary” performance by Fantasia Barrino (via Billboard).

Tina Turner passed away on May 24, 2023, at 83. On the night of the Grammy Awards, Winfrey touched upon the legendary singer’s personal impact on her life. Oprah Winfrey also talked about the undeniable influence Tina Turner will forever have on popular music, stating that her voice “continues to speak” to all.

Remembering her friend, she noted, “She used to say to me, ‘Oprah, you should dress up for dinner, even if no one else is there. Just so you feel beautiful to you” (via Variety).

Miley Cyrus also channeled her inner Tina Turner in a custom Maison Margiela dress made of safety pins. One of the most talked about looks of the night, Cyrus’ fashion and beauty choices paired with her moves brought to mind the late American-Swiss songwriter (via Glamour).

Tina Turner had four kids

Tina Turner had four kids, having welcomed her first child, Craig Raymond Turner, on Aug. 29, 1958. She shared her firstborn with Raymond Hill. Craig unfortunately passed away on July 3, 2018, and Turner spread his ashes in the ocean later that month (via People).

Her second child, Ike Turner Jr., was born to Ike Turner Sr. and Lorraine Taylor in 1958. Tina Turner adopted him while he was pretty young. In an interview, he said, “Tina raised me from the age of 2. She’s the only mother I’ve ever known” (via Daily Mail). She also adopted Michael Turner right before her split from Ike Turner Sr.

Her youngest, Ronald Turner, was born on Oct. 27, 1960. He is the only child she shares with Ike Turner Sr. Tina Turner had to cut him off financially as he kept running into legal issues. In a 1986 interview, she stated, “I cut him off financially, but I always had a string to find out what was going on and to get money there to help him if he needed it” (via Rolling Stone). Unfortunately, he passed away on Dec. 8, 2022, due to colon cancer.
