We’re smack dab in the middle of knock knock jokes.
And chickens crossing the road.
Entire car rides are filled with, “Knock, knock! Mommy! Knock, knock! Mommy! Say ‘who’s there’!”
Sadly, neither child has grasped the idea of a punch line, which in and of itself is pretty darn funny. So far, my favorites have been:
“Knock, knock.”
“Who’s there?”
“Elizabeth!” Cue belly laughs at her own cleverness.
“Knock, knock.”
“Who’s there?”
“Banana.”
“Banana who?”
“Banana yellow, yellow!” Howls of laughter.
“Why did the chicken cross the road, Mama?”
“Why?”
“He had chicken pox!!” Tears of laughter.
“Why did the chicken cross the road?”
“Why?”
“Because the truck was coming!”
Yes. I’m raising comic geniuses.
But it’s nice that someone appreciates my humor.
“Knock, knock?”
“Who’s there, Mama?”
“Boo.”
“Boo who?”
“Awww…don’t cry little baby.”
“Maaa-maaa!”
Well, maybe “appreciate” is too strong a word.
