Make a cool cake topper last minute, using materials you probably already have lying around the house.
These Easter cake toppers are actually made from a recycled cereal box. So it's the perfect (super affordable) DIY for last minute party and holiday decor. Here's how to make your own DIY Easter cake topper:
Supplies:
- Craft glue
- Wood skewers or lollipop sticks
- Cereal box
- Spray paint
- Scissors
- Pencil
Instructions:
Step 1: Cut large, flat pieces from a cereal box. The front and back of the box are the best pieces to use, if possible. Discard the smaller side pieces.
Step 2: Turn the cardboard over and freehand a message with a pencil. If you'd prefer not to write a phrase without a guide, create a printout from your favorite font on the computer, then cut and trace it onto the cardboard.
Step 3: Cut the message out with scissors.
Step 4: Next, spray paint the phrase and let the cardboard dry completely.
Step 5: Flip over and glue bamboo skewers to each word. Wait for the glue to dry completely. Then, stick into a cake and enjoy.
In addition to holiday phrases, you could easily make interesting shapes and silhouettes with the same materials.
