Delicious Italian Wine Blend: Allegrini Palazzo della Torre

I recently had the most delicious Italian blend at my favorite wine bar: 2007 Allegrini Palazzo della Torre. It was so delectable that I went out and bought another bottle at BevMo just so I could drink more and write about it.

The wine is a blend of 70% Corvina, 25% Rondinella and 5% Sangiovese, all traditional Veneto grapes. Veneto is a wine region in the north-eastern part of Italy. Approximately 30% of the fruit is air-dried, Amarone-style. The fermenting juice from those grapes is then added to the rest of the juice giving the wine an extra dimension of richness and body.

Allegrini Palazzo della Torre is a smooth, full-bodied red wine. It has a beautiful deep ruby-red color that makes the wine look sexy in the glass. It has tastes of dark dried fruits like blackberries and currants, with a chocolate hint. It also has that spicy kick at the finish that I love so much.

I drank this wine with a yummy four-cheese tortellini coated in a Penne a la Vodka sauce and baby arugula salad. It stood up nicely to the spicy bites of the arugula. This wine is also excellent with hard, tasty cheeses and of course dark chocolate!

So if you are looking to venture away from your go-to varietal of wine, try this Allegrini Palazzo della Torre…you won’t be disappointed!
