4-Ingredient Chocolate Croissant Recipe You Can Make at Home

Who doesn’t love croissants, especially the ones with chocolate? These soft, flaky, and buttery pastries pair perfectly with coffee. If you are yet to make chocolate croissants, it’s time to try your hands at them. This recipe won’t take the entire day, as it requires only four ingredients. If you love plain croissants, skip the chocolate and follow the rest of the procedure. However, if you prefer semi-sweet or milk chocolate over dark chocolate, you can use those instead for the recipe to cater to your tastebuds. This is the easiest chocolate croissant recipe, and four ingredients are all you need to make this flaky goodness at home.

Ingredients

  • 1 package puff pastry (two sheets)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips (or semi-sweet or milk)
  • Powdered sugar, optional

Preparation

  1. To make the chocolate croissant recipe, remove the puff pastry from the freezer and allow it to thaw for 30 minutes at room temperature (if your puff pastry comes in 2 sheets, this recipe will make about 12 croissants total).
  2. Meanwhile, line the baking tray with parchment paper. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  3. Now, in a small bowl, whisk the egg for the egg wash. Set aside.
  4. When puff pastry is thawed, unroll both sheets and cut each sheet into six even rectangles. You can also cut in half first and then thirds to ensure even slicing.
  5. Place a handful of chocolate chips in the middle of each puff pastry rectangle.
  6. Then, take one side, fold it over, and gently press down. Take the other side, fold it over, and press down gently again. Top tip: If the puff pastry is not staying down, wet your finger with a bit of water, run it along the seam, and then fold it over. The water will act as a glue and keep it secured.
  7. Flip the croissants seam down on the baking trays. Brush each one with some egg wash. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until they are a nice golden brown color.

Lastly, dust with powdered sugar and enjoy the freshly baked goodness. You can’t deny that this chocolate croissant recipe was oh-so-easy. We are sure you and your family will instantly fall in love with it. This recipe can also feed a crowd, making it perfect for get-togethers and intimate parties.
